Rothermel - Name

This unsusual and interesting name is of Early medieval Germanic origin, and derives from a nickname for someone who habitually dressed in bright or colourful clothing, someone thought to be attired in a fashionable manner. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Anna Rothermel (marriage to ans Franck), which was dated April 26th 1681, Oberaspach, Wuertt, Germany, during the reign of Leopold 1, Holy Roman Emperor, 1658 - 1705.
